Gazipur

Gazipur is one of Bangladesh's fastest-growing industrial districts and part of the greater Dhaka metropolitan belt. It covers 1,806.36 km² and had a population of 5,263,450 in the 2022 census. Gazipur is a major center of industry, education, urban growth, and national religious gatherings.

Gazipur's historical identity includes Bhawal estate heritage, anti-colonial and liberation-era significance, and rapid industrial transformation in modern Bangladesh. It later became one of the country's main metropolitan-industrial districts.

Location: Central Bangladesh in the Dhaka metropolitan periphery. Bhawal forest zones, industrial urban belts, and river-linked lowlands are central geographic features.
