History & Background

Payra Bridge, also known as Lebukhali Bridge, was planned to strengthen road communication with Patuakhali, Kuakata, and the Payra Port zone. Construction began on 24 July 2016 and the bridge was opened on 28 October 2021. It became one of the country's important modern southern bridges and improved access to Kuakata and coastal transport routes.
