History & Background
Khan Mohammad Mridha Mosque is a historic mosque near Lalbagh Fort in Old Dhaka. It was built in Atish Khan Mahalla in 1706 under the instruction of Qadi Ibadullah, during the Mughal period. The mosque is distinctive because it stands on a high platform formed by tahkhana or vaulted rooms below. Its three-domed prayer hall, stair approach, garden setting and associated madrasa tradition make it one of the important Mughal-era mosque monuments of Dhaka.
