Shyampur Sugar Mills was established in the late 1960s in the Shyampur area of Badarganj. Publicly available descriptions emphasize its role as one of the important industrial employers in the region, with a workforce that historically exceeded 1,400 people. Like several state mills, it has also been part of national debate over loss-making operations and suspension of production.
